3-day trek Stelvio National Park around Mount Confinale

This trek requires a moderate to demanding level of effort, so it’s important to be in good shape and not sedentary. Practicing aerobic sports like running, cycling, or swimming is the best way to prepare. If you don’t normally engage in sports, it’s a good idea to start training at least six months before the trek. Aim to run and cycle twice a week, and include some squats and lunges (10 squats and 20 lunges) to strengthen your muscles. Additionally, regular hikes in your local area with a minimum elevation gain of 600 meters will be beneficial. This physical preparation is crucial before starting the trek. This refers to the vertical distance you walk each day of trekking. If you don’t have clear the distance, we can roughly compare: 100 m of elevation gain can correspond to approximately 25 floors of stairs in a building. Don’t be scared by these numbers, the paths, except for a few, are never steep and constant like the stairs of a building. You should consider that this elevation is spread in the distance and time we will walk. (usually during one day)

Examples:
400 m elev. gain in 10 Km spread in one day is not a steep path and unless you are lazy you can manage it!

800 or 1.000 m elev. gain in 4 – 8 Km is very steep and you need to be fit

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. You should consider that the estimated walking time don’t consider stops or lunch break

A hike tends to be on trails through mountains or trails through bush or country terrain. Trails are usually visible paths, but terrain and trails are rougher and sometimes rocky. There may be some steep trails and it is important to read the features in each proposal. Hiking generally involves walking up and down rough terrain so you need to be in general in a good shape and fit.

A walk tends to be done on defined paths and reasonably smooth surfaces without too many obstacles in the way. Walking tends to not require any special equipment, other than a day pack with the essentials. Walks are shorter and can be enjoyed by any age group with relative fitness.

In mountain huts, bathroom is always shared with all guests. Showers are usually available under extra payment. Sometime there is not hot water

In mountain huts you will find beds with mattress, wool blanket, bed pillow. You need to bring your own sleeping bag sheet. If you don’t have it you can buy disposable sleeping bag sheet in refuge.

We suggest always bringing some food (you need to be on site with food already purchased) such as: a sandwich, a fruit or dried fruit and a litre of water. For the first day backpacking you need to buy food in advance (day before departure). In mountain huts it is possible to order a packed lunch.

The proposal includes the car trip with the guide from Milan. Therefore, the travel cost of the guide is included in the price you pay. The cost must be paid even if you do not take advantage of the car ride as the guide has to travel. By leaving Milan with your guide, you have the opportunity to travel at a truly advantageous cost and without time restrictions with means of transport
