Enjoy the sea in a different way! Springtime and wintertime are the best seasons to live “sea trekking” in the northernmost mediterranean region. Come to hike this marvellous region.
LIGURIA
Liguria is an Italian region located in the north-west of Italy overlooking the Ligurian Sea.
If we look at Liguria from above it is like a slice of orange peel, where its outer part is made up of Apennine mountains while its jagged coast offers marvelous cliffs to hike, the most famous are the Cinque Terre. Thanks to the presence of mountains that mitigate the currents coming from the north and the sea, its coast enjoys a mild climate even in winter, ideal for hiking.
Genoa is the capital of this wonderful region with its great port and its city rich in history where the passage of different cultures have left their mark.
In this wonderful region you can do beautiful multy-day trekking even in winter days remaining close to the coast, where even in January you can admire blooms.
Liguria offers:
Mild climate
Coastal paths
Panoramic trails in the Apennines
Typical cuisine such as Focaccie, Farinata and Pesto
Sea and mountain trekking
In Liguria there are several parks and natural areas where we enjoy hiking, the most important are:
Cinque Terre National Park: They are the most famouse in the world, fantastic places that you have to visit once in your life! On the other hand they are very crowded. “Heroic” cultivation of the vine in its agricultural land terracing, incredible sea villages, scenografic cliffs, good food and regional products.
Portofino Regional Natural Park: It is a little pearl, less crowded thant Cinque Terre but very interesting. In this area you can do trekking all year round and usually in less than 4 days you can visit this splendid area.
Beigua Regional Nature Park (Beigua UNESCO global geopark) : Its a huge area between mountains and sea. From the suggestive canyon of Gargassa river to the top of panoramic mountains like Monte Rama endig to the mediterranean coasts close to Arenzano and Varazze. The Beigua Geopark it is included in the UNESCO world heritage and contains a rather complete sequence of oceanic lithosphere, and two important metamorphic overprints, respectively ocean floor and alpine, can be identified.
Antola Regional Nature Park: it is in the heart of Ligurian Apennine. Wide ridges, Panoramic mountains, big beech forests, flowers and animals. Monte Antola is the highest mountain where the ancient “Via del Sale” path runs leading the hikers towards the sea.
Aveto Regional Nature park: Pure mountain! Here you can enjoy Apennines, forsests, panoramic views, typical food, no crowd! We are very close to Emilia Romagna.
Ligurian Alps: In the western part of Liguria (Liguria di ponente) where the sun set you can find the beginning of the Alps! We are close to the French border where the Alps are still Mediterranean but already they breathe the fine Alpine air. The most beautiful treks can be done between Imperia and Ventimiglia as on the highest mountains on the border with Piedmont like Marguareis.
