You’ll walk from hut to hut under the majestic peak of Piz Bernina (4,050 m). Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of alpine lakes, glaciers, and lush mountain pastures. Valmalenco is a spectacular valley in the northern part of Valtellina, just above Sondrio, in the Lombardy region in North Italy and not far from Milan.

Some information about out 3 days backpacking trek on Bernina and Valmalenco
We’ll start the trek from the large dam above Lanzada village, heading toward our first mountain hut. For those with energy to spare, there’s an optional climb to a stunning 2,900-meter peak offering sweeping views. On the second day, we’ll cross the impressive Fellaria Glacier and overnight in a cozy alpine refuge. The final day leads us along Lake Gera and, depending on conditions, we may extend the route through additional lakes and pastures before returning to the dam.
Backpacking for everyone
This is a moderate-level trek, suitable for active and sporty individuals. There are no particularly exposed or technical sections, except for a short passage over easy stony ground. If you’re unsure about your fitness level, feel free to contact us—we’ll help assess if this adventure is right for you. Custom options are also available for private groups.
The trek includes 3 days of hiking and 2 nights in welcoming alpine huts (shared rooms and bathrooms), where you’ll enjoy hearty local meals, showers, and packed lunches for your journey.
