SNOW SHOEING IN RIALE, VAL FORMAZZA

Maria Luisa refuge and “white” Valrossa
This Sunday the weather is not the best, but forecasts assured us that we would have the whole sunny morning. Riale, the last village of Formazza valley in north Piedmont, is completely covered in snow. The group of snowshoes hikers, is happy and motivated to reach the beautiful Valrossa.
Today Riale is one of the few areas in the Western Alps that will have little sun and other hikers have had the same idea. Many people are on the path!
We climb along the snow-covered road that leads to the higher dam, but to avoid the boring hairpin bends, I decide to climb straight. The slope is not very steep and without much effort we can reach Valrossa faster.
Meanwhile Riale is now under our feet!
We reach the Rifugio Maria Luisa and without stopping we climb again and finally we reach the Val Rossa. Unfortunately the clouds, as weather forecasts predicted, have arrived and we are surrounded by cloud fogs! By the way it is suggestive!
We go down quickly to the shelter, having fun doing some snowshoes skiing!
Inside the hut it is warm and to end our beautiful daily snowshoeing, a good beer and a tasty slice of cake is a must!
Thank you all hikers, this snowshoeing in Val Formazza was very funny!
