This Sunday the weather is not the best, but forecasts assured us that we would have the whole sunny morning. Riale, the last village of Formazza valley in north Piedmont, is completely covered in snow. The group of snowshoes hikers, is happy and motivated to reach the beautiful Valrossa.
Great views and enchanting woods among the pastures of the Antigorio Valley
There are places that give the best of themselves in a particular season. Winter is the right season to visit the Alpe Genuina! Why? Stunning fir forests, silent places and a wide panorama!
Alpe Genuina is an ancient pasture, close to Domodossola a cosy city in Piedmont, north italy.
Daily hike from Uscio to Camogli between mountain and sea
February is the month in which on the Ligurian coast you begin to breathe spring air. Today with a nice group we have travelled the last stage of “Via del Sale lombarda”, Lombardian salt route, that from Pavia carried the merchants up and down to the Genoese coasts where the trades took place between the Mediterranean and the Po Valley.
Mount Priafaia is a small but extremely scenic summit in the Monte Beigua Natural Park in Liguria. From this peak during the clear winter days you can admire both the Alps and the sea in the same time thanks to the dry winter air. The name is difficult to pronounce for an Italian, who knows for a foreigner! The name means stone of the beeches: Pria means stone while Faia means beech in an ancient local dialect.
Stunningview from Moneglia to Framurabetweenwoods andcliffs
Today is very hot we are just at the beginning of spring! On the Ligurian coast the temperature during the day was 24° and we experienced an early summer.
We started from Milan with 7° and humidity and arrived in Moneglia with 18° and dry climate, this is the beauty of northern Italy in a few kilometers you can have often opposite climates.
Our trail starts from the city center, we follow a small road to reach the village of Lemeglio.
The great lakes of northern Italy are excellent destinations for hiking in spring and autumn.
Today we are on Lecco shore of Lake Como about one hour drive from Milan. Our itinerary starts from Mandello del Lario, a well known village all over the world because there is the Moto Guzzi factory.
The path leading to the Zucco di Sileggio is steep and the difference in height is about 1000 meters. Fortunately the route is not difficult and the climb is always constant where, once you get the right pace, you can climb optimizing the effort!
On a hot july Sunday we went to Val Formazza, a valley located in northern Piedmont. Today I am taking a nice group of people for a beautiful hike. Today we will go to discovery a small alpine lake located at the foot of Mount Basodino 3.273 m which is on the border of Canton Ticino (Tessin) in Switzerland.
Hiking in the wilderness of the Valgrande National Park between panoramas and ancient villages.
When we talk about wilderness in northern Italy we are talking about Valgrande National Park between Lake Maggiore and Ossola Valley in Northern Piedmont. With a nice group of hikers we went hiking into this “green lung” just 70 km from Milan!
At the foot of Monte Rosa south face in Valsesia, Piedmont
Monte Rosa, after Mont Blanc, is the second highest peak in the Alps. To tell the truth, Punta Doufur which is the highest in the Rosa massif would be the third highest peak because, just lower than the top of Mont Blanc, it would be the Mont Blanc of Courmayeur. If we talk about the entire massifs, which are, a group of peaks, then Monte Rosa is the second highest massif in the Alps.
